Micah/AF1 Racing 4.7.2015:
New reflash out for V7 II, end in 795 from 740 root map number. 4533V795 appears to be latest mapping revision. The newer mapping is WAY smoother, better response, all around more pleasant riding. - - I agree that the bike could use a serious bump in power but with the stock "Heron" type heads not gonna happen. The V7 or V7 II is a bike you just enjoy for what it is. I was talking a customer late yesterday after the test ride pictured above, he asked "is it fast". I told him no, maybe slightly faster than an 883 Sportster but not FAST. He seemed disappointed, turned out he had an 883 Sportster and thought it was pretty damn fast. I showed him the RF and Tuono V4 Factory, explained that those were FAST bikes, just about anything less was simply a matter of perspective. Enjoy for what it is, not what it isn't. I think he is going to buy one!

Amen to that. Every month or so some wombat will come up with a hare-brained scheme to make a smallblock Guzzi a fire-breathing monster. Either that or they whine about it needing 'More Power'. Unfortunately the laws of physics are a harsh mistress and it isn't going to happen, ever, with this motor. The Smallblocks are essentially a mid-1970's motorbike. If you forget about the engine capacity and just ride it for what it is they are great fun. I really like the Nuovo Smallblocks, especially the new six-speeder. Like the Nuovo Six Speeds in both the 1200 and 1400 models the new smallblock box is light to use and very precise. If there is one thing that they seem to have got right now it's gearboxes. Modern Guzzi boxes are outstanding and stupidly robust. The single throttle body MUIG3 controlled engines are a lot less hassle than the earlier twin TB design and 'Servicing' is so ridiculously easy as to make the bike close to maintenance free. All this and they are still great fun to ride.
